Join us for this three-day meditation retreat, a rare opportunity to spend time in the presence of self-realized, spiritual master Sri Swami Ramakrishnananda Maharaj. In the retreat, we will be guided towards the discovery of our eternal, enlightened nature.
Surrounded by the beautiful nature of the northern Catskill Mountains in New York State, we will explore a wide array of yogic practices ranging from body movements and breathing techniques, to concentration exercises, contemplation and chanting. These practices will prepare us for deeper spiritual experiences and spontaneous meditation.

Date and time:
Starting: Friday at 2pm.
Ending: Sunday at 4 pm.
- The retreat will take place at the Big Indian Springs Retreat Center in the Northern Catskill Mountains, only a 2-hour drive from New York City. The center is located on 37 pristine acres in the heart of New York’s Catskill Forest Preserve and features a beautiful pond. It is a perfect place for introspection, meditation and spiritual practice.
- Lodging is in shared rooms, bathrooms are shared.
- Meals are prepared by disciples with devotion as an offering to the Divine, the full vegetarian board consists of balanced, nutritious and delicious blessed meals (prasadam), prepared in the yogic style: no meat, fish, eggs, onion or garlic .
Price for full participation including accommodations and meals: $425 per person.

Driving Directions from New York City:
Take the New York State Thruway (Interstate 87) North to Exit 19, Kingston. After the tollbooth, take the first exit to the right, marked Route 28 (West) to Pine Hill. Stay on Route 28 for 30 miles. There will be several signs along the road referring to Big Indian. Watch for Peekamoose Restaurant on the left. Immediately after Peekamoose, turn left onto Lasher Road. Follow Lasher Road about a mile to the first (and only) intersection. Proceed through the intersection onto Cruickshank Road. Our driveway is about 1/4 mile up Cruickshank Road, the 2nd driveway on the right, marked with a small sign reading “Big Indian Springs”.
Traveling by bus from New York City:
A Trailways Bus is scheduled to leave the Port Authority on Friday, August 8/26 at 9:30am, arriving in Big Indian at 12:35pm. Please let us know in advance so we can pick you up at the bus stop in Big Indian.
To return to NYC on Sunday evening, catch the 4:23 pm bus in Big Indian. It is scheduled to arrive at the Port Authority at 7:30pm.

Car pooling:
If you are planning to drive your car to the retreat and you would like to offer carpooling to other participants please let us know in advance. Carpoolers are suggested to share the travel expenses.
Rules, limitations and regulations
- Participation of adolescents under the age of eighteen is conditional and requires parental approval.
- Women during pregnancy should not attend any of our physical practices.
- If you suffer from any physical or mental health problem, pain, injury or chronic disease, please consult with us before registering and attending the retreat.
- No alcoholic drinks, drugs or any other intoxicants are allowed on the retreat premises.
